Giovanni Allevi

Giovanni Allevi in “Equilibrium – The Film Concert”

Following one the most representative cinematographic trends in recent years, “Equilibrium – The Film Concert”, the inspirational film event that relates, through the music, thoughts and philosophical reflections of artist Giovanni Allevi, the birth of the latest symphonic work of one of the most beloved contemporary Italian composers in the world, will be in cinemas from 18 to 20 June. Directorial debut of Fabrizio Cavada, the film, produced by Bizart and distributed by NewGold Film and Duemilauno Distribuzione, will be screened in more than 150 cinemas throughout Italy.

From the initial inspiration to the encounter with the audience, “Equilibrium – The Film Concert” narrates in an intimate and fascinating way – through unpublished and backstage photos – the première of the work at Teatro dal Verme in Milan; a live performance enriched with footage of the composer as he walks around the city and interviews with other guests of the concert. The other stars of the film, along with Giovanni Allevi, are the international artists Jeffrey Biegel and Jeffrey Reed, already interpreters of his Concert no. 1 for piano and orchestra during the world première in the United States, accompanied here by the professors of the Italian Symphonic Orchestra.
“EQUILIBRIUM” can be considered the album with which Giovanni Allevi comes of age, in which the composer’s two contrasting spirits – the rebel rock one and the perfectionist academic one – come together. The tour saw all the theatres sold out and at the same time the poetry and art lying at the base of the musical creation has found expression also in his new book, “L’equilibrio della lucertola” (The equilibrium of the lizard) (Solferino), received by critics and the public with great enthusiasm.

The music, images and words of the artist revolve around what has become an inescapable concept of our society: the search for an equilibrium that the musician philosopher investigates in depth with his sensitivity and knowledge, becoming a new Maître à penser.
The film, shot with 8, 4K cameras, offers the spectator spectacular shots and details. Creativity and technical quality combine in a unique and unrepeatable film event that once again reveals, in one hour of great music and profound emotion, the talent and charisma of Giovanni Allevi, the Italian composer, pianist and conductor who has changed the face of contemporary classical music.
