Giovanni Allevi returns to the recording scene with “Equilibrium”, the new album, in double CD, coming out on 20 October and today, 20 September, available in pre-order on iTunes. When purchasing the pre-order on iTunes you will immediately receive as instant gratification the single “FLOWERS” for piano and strings and the “ALLEGRO” from the Concert for Piano and Symphonic Orchestra.
The album will be released in versions with double CD, double VINYL 180 rpm and in a special Deluxe Limited Edition (containing double CD, photographic book and Giovanni Allevi notebook). On Music First, you can pre-order autographed copies of the album, in Deluxe and double vinyl versions, at the following link: http://bit.ly/GiovanniAllevi-Equilibrium.
The original cover of the album, created by internationally-renowned photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari, follows on in an ideal “collectors” series from the covers of his latest albums. In this case the close-up of Giovanni Allevi appears metaphorically divided in a reference to his two souls, the more classic side and the rock side, united by the search for balance, which is also the driving theme of the entire project.
This new musical work, of international importance, sees the participation of American pianist Jeffrey Biegel (who has worked in the past with artists from Leonard Bernstein to Keith Emerson) in the recording of the composer’s first Concert for Piano and Symphonic Orchestra. In “Equilibrium”, Giovanni Allevi remains in a close relationship with his favourite instrument in all the compositions for piano and string orchestra as well as the piano solos, while J. Biegel is on the keyboard in the “Concert for Piano and Orchestra no.1”, directed by Allevi himself, after performing in a world debut in the US on 26 August.
The national première-event “Equilibrium”, after the recent international debut in America, will be held on 15 November in Milan’s Teatro del Verme with the Italian Symphonic Orchestra (Orchestra Sinfonica Italiana). Advance ticket sales are available on ticketone.it (goo.gl/r3HY18).
