Composer, pianist, philosopher, conductor – Giovanni Allevi is one of the most beloved and multifaceted artists in the world. He has played a leading role in the profound renewal of classical music, bringing the art of composition back into the spotlight for new generations. Allevi graduated with top honors in both Piano and Composition, and earned a summa cum laude degree in Philosophy with a thesis titled “The Vacuum in Contemporary Physics”.

He has performed on the stages of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, from Carnegie Hall in New York to Teatro alla Scala in Milan, all the way to the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. His intellectual engagement has made him a philosophical reference point on the themes of innovation and change, inspiring numerous academic theses dedicated to his work.

He has been knighted by the Italian Republic for his artistic and cultural merits, and awarded the Stella d’Oro al Valor Mozartiano “for bringing Classical Music back to its former glory.” He is also a recipient of the Falcone e Borsellino Prize, and serves as an Ambassador for Save the Children, actively defending the rights of children.

He has received praise from Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Francis, and Nobel Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev, as well as the Albatros Prize “for his significant efforts in promoting culture among the younger generations,” and the Golden Opera Awards – the Opera Oscars.

With the piece “Our future”, which premiered at the COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Maestro Giovanni Allevi was named European Ambassador of the Earth Day European Network, in recognition of his closeness to young activists fighting to protect the planet’s future

.He has conducted his own symphonic music leading, among others, the All Stars Orchestra, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Italiana. His symphonic compositions have also been well received and interpreted by conductors such as Daniel Kawka, Claudio Scimone, Hirofumi Yoshida, and Juri Gilbo. His Concerto in F minor for Violin and Orchestra has been performed by internationally renowned young violinists including Mariusz Patyra, Natalia Lomeiko, Marianna Vasileva, Reiko Watanabe, and Yury Revich.

Giovanni Allevi is also a successful writer. His first autobiography, “La musica in testa” (“Music in Mind”), became a bestseller and was awarded the Elsa Morante Literary Prize. Among his written works, his essay “Le regole del pianoforte – 33 note di musica e filosofia per una vita straordinaria” (The rules of the piano – 33 notes of music and philosophy for an extraordinary life) stands out as a tribute to his favorite instrument.

His latest single, “Tomorrow ” was performed live for the first time on the stage of the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo during the 74th Sanremo Music Festival, marking his return to the spotlight after a long artistic hiatus due to multiple myeloma—a challenging journey of pain, struggle, and unexpected rebirth.

His most recent book, written during his illness, is titled “I nove doni – Sulla via per la felicità” (The nine gifts – On the Path to Happiness) (Solferino Editions). It is a profound reflection on life, a guide to embracing one’s own fragility and discovering the gifts that hardship can reveal, ultimately leading to a more authentic sense of happiness.
