From the Marches to the World Special Guest at B.I.T (International Tourism Exchange)
On Saturday, February 16th the artist will pay tribute to his roots in a meeting open to the public
presented by Pippo Baudo.
Tireless Giovanni Allevi. After the great success of his last album “SUNRISE”, in which he eclectically played
the role of composer, pianist and director, the artist will be a special guest at B.I.T (International Tourism
Exchange) on Saturday, 16th February at 2.45 pm at the Marches stand. He will then meet the public and
will chronicle the most striking moments of his artistic life in a friendly chat with much-loved TV face Pippo
Baudo.
This is an ideal context where to delineate Giovanni Allevi’s dynamic activity: the enfant terrible which keeps bringing his classical contemporary music throughout Italy and all over the world, everywhere meeting with standing ovations and sold out shows.
The “Sunrise Tour” with the Italian Symphonic Orchestra is indeed going on next Spring successfully. Moreover, Allevi goes back to a more intimate dimension in the “Piano Solo Tour 2013” where he will go over his twenty-year career through his best-loved piano solo tracks.
“Sunrise Tour” dates: Rome – Auditorium della Conciliazione (28th February), Catania – Teatro Metropolitan (5th March), Cosenza – Teatro Rendano (6th March), Padua – Gran Teatro (9th March), Cagliari – Teatro Lirico (10th March), Lugano – Palacongressi (16th March), Ravenna – Pala De Andrè (20th April), Milan – Teatro degli Arcimboldi (21st April).
“Piano Solo Tour” dates: Catanzaro – Teatro Politeama (2nd March), Piacenza – Teatro Municipale (15th March), Pisa – Teatro Verdi (17th March), Bergamo – Teatro Donizetti (10th April), La Spezia – Teatro Civico (11th April), Gallarate (VA) – Teatro Gassman (12th April), Verona – Teatro Filarmonico (15th April), Parma
– Teatro Regio (16th April), Prato – Teatro Politeama (27th April), Avezzano – Teatro dei Marsi (5th May).
"SUNRISE" IT'S THE TITLE OF THE NEW ALBUM!
Giovanni Allevi's new album is entitled "SUNRISE", coming out next October 30th on Bizart/Sony Music.
"The Music, my Whimsical Witch, has re-emerged with the harrowing sound of the violin, the piano, and the orchestra. The music of my rebirth. After a long and hard period of time, the notes, the joy and enthusiasm have returned to running me over like a waterfall. Now all I want is for these notes to be close to hearts of the people, that they may be an encouragement to overcome the dark moments, to find that light again, that is inside each one of us": this is "SUNRISE" for Allevi. The cover of the album, with notes and scores that spill out of his mind, describes in images how the music is constantly present in his thoughts.
A new exciting challenge for the composer, director of orchestra and pianist who returns with a new absolutely unreleased symphonic project containing his very first compostion for violin and orchestra, where however his unseperable piano will not be missed, again being a protagonist under the proficiency of his fingers. "SUNRISE" comes at a distance of two years from his last successful album for piano solo "Alien" and four years since his first album for symphonic orchestra "Evolution", awarded with the platinum disc.
The album was recorded in the prestigious Carlo Felice Theatre of Genoa and over 60 orchestra professors of the same lyrical entity were involved in the recordings. A detail not to underestimate for the purists of sound, is that the recording was realized in high definition hd (96 khz) with the highest qualitative standards, which allowed the insertion of the disc in the innovative section of the i-Tunes store "Mastered For i-Tunes" which allows to obtain files for the i-Devices with a clearer, sharper sound.
"SUNRISE" will also be available in a limited time version for collection, in the variant deluxe edition with a booklet especially made and a DVD of "the Making of" the realization of the album, with interviews of the protagonists and backstage images in exclusive of about 30 minutes.
The world première of the piece, in which Giovanni will be accompanied by the Carlo Felice Theatre Orchestra and by a Paganini award winner chosen to perform the virtuous composition for violin, will be on November 14th in Genoa and will be repeating the performance by great request with the same artistic cast that gave birth to the project, in the main Italian cities: Florence (November 15th – Teatro Verdi), Bologna (November 18th - Teatro Auditorium Manzoni), Milan (November 19th – Teatro degli Arcimboldi), Rome (November 28th - Auditorium Conciliazione).
NEW ALBUM COMING OUT OCTOBER 30TH!
Ready to go at the Carlo Felice Theatre of Genoa for the recording of Giovanni's new disc!
60 are the orchestra professors from the prestigious lyrical entity involved in the project and the recording created in high definition HD (96Khz) with the highest qualitative standards to give life to the new album coming out October 30th 2012 on Bizart/Sony Music label.
The World Première of the piece, which will be performed for the absolute first time live right in Genoa in Paganini's home town, emblem of the violin, will take place on November 14th 2012 at the Carlo Felice Theatre.
The unpublished piano score, characterized by passages of extreme musical virtuosity, will have Giovanni in the double role as composer and director, while the performer of the violin solo will be one of the winners of the Paganini Award, the most important violin competition in the world.
Furthermore in the new album you also won't be missing the inseparable piano, with other unpublished compositions around which still revolves the maximum discretion.

Giovanni Allevi in concert at the 2012 Olympic Games
For the second time in a row the "Alien" composer has the honor of presenting Italian music at the Olympic Games. After his presence among the musical guests of the 2008 Olympics in Pechino, where he performed leading the "China Philharmonic Orchestra" at the Auditorium of the Forbidden City, Giovanni Allevi returns in the context of the world sports celebrations bringing his music to London next August 9th 2012 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center of the british capital.
Italy has decided to present to the world, in the international context most followed by the public and media, the cultured and emotional music of the child prodigy of classical music, the new generations' most loved italian composer.
Overloaded by the enthusiasm of the public of Rome whom applauded him in his repertory with the Symphonic Orchestra in occasion of his recent concert at the Italic Forum, Allevi is expected in the role of composer and pianist by the italian athletes who will be participating in the next Olympic Games.
Giovanni Allevi, the musician-philosopher, as was also defined, will perform on piano with the pieces from his last album “Alien” (Ed. Bizart/Sony Music 2010, golden disc for the sales in Italy a few months after the release date).
In Italy there are few occasions to assist to a concert of the composer-pianist. In the wait of the temporary olympic transfer, the only two summer concerts of the Alien World Tour will be in Tuscany on July 25th and 26th, (July 25th in San Miniato - Pisa, at the Duomo Plaza in the occasion of the european festival "Francigena Melody Road", and July 26th in Marina of Pietrasanta - Lucca, at the Versilian Theatre for the historic festival "La Versiliana". Critics comments
Corriere della Sera - Franchini
Impulsive and rebellious.
Tall, bony, curly-haired, his clothes creased but with a winning smile, Giovanni Allevi, having acquired a sudden but authentic level of fame, presented his latest album... He's a classical musician but, thanks to his age and cultural background, is able to accept all the sounds that accompany our way of living... There is a kind of impulsiveness and passion in his way of being an artist, there's a wilfulness and rebelliousness, a love for the piano's past and the desire to overturn traditions by opening up new paths. A huge success.
(Vittorio Franchini)
Corriere della Sera - Luzzatto Fegiz
At his starting line was the piano-playing virtuosity of Chopin, Bach, Beethoven and Ravel, then Giovanni Allevi arrived at a genre of music which is hugely expressive, his compositions cannot be compared to jazz, nor pop and not even to contemporary classical music. A no-man's land, from a critical point of view. So who is in a position to judge a "stateless" artist? Whoever's destiny it is to listen to a track from the piano album No Concept, in which the full and the void, sound and silence blend together naturally, amongst playfulness, surges, meditation, in a transversal narration which breaks the mould, although without inciting or experimentalism, as demonstrated by Ossessione. All in all, music which is easy to digest but at the same time of great nobility, energetic in its clarity and always distancing itself from any stereotype.
(Mario Luzzatto Fegiz)
...it seems that Allevi wants to free himself from the inevitable curse of the conservatory to completely liberate his creative imagination and improvisation... many things could be written about him, to the point at which choices must be made. Amid his formal qualities, one of the easiest to appreciate is the beauty of his touch and his phrasing, and the impossibility to categorise his songs, even amongst those who insist on the existence of "musics" rather than just music. Allevi plays as his emotions dictate, nothing more, nothing less.
(Franco Fayenz)
Q.N. Il Giorno, La Nazione, Il Resto del Carlino
...the 13 mini-suites, the movements of his latest work, are a knowing fluxus of emotional writings which breathe in the cultured-popular air with a purity of absolute values... Giovanni is on the run, on a peak like a mountaineer, from the academic world and the standardisation of pop. A solo pianist at the commands who rejects the mathematical concepts of Western Music and the criminal calculation which bends musical language to meet the rules of the market...
(Marco Mangiarotti)
The most difficult aspect is to try to classify his music, neatly slot him into a genre. The easiest thing is to be bewitched by his impetuous, torrential yet refined style, on the right road to full maturity. He is a musician brimming with imagination and fervour, Giovanni Allevi... with a shining future to be explored on his keyboard; who, especially from the stage while in concert, reveals his resources and his meticulous application, in his search for technical perfection and a depth of comprehension...
(Enzo Gentile)
Troubled times are ahead for those who are born simple and who remain simple: for them and their good name. But those who are born complex, or rather human, and have their lives direct them towards the ideal, or rather, the mirage of a golden simplification of things, in and around them, well, they're perhaps worthy of some consideration. And this is the case with Giovanni Allevi, a pianist-composer born in Ascoli Piceno around 36 years ago, although he looks ten years younger, so smooth and politely optimistic is his face, his words slip off his tongue with natural ease, his way of confidently living his life free of existential obstacles and burdens... But what is this piano music? Let's put it like this: if it were a season it would be spring, if it were a dish it would be a light salad, if it were a colour it would be the azure that swirls around the domes of mosques...
(Enrico Cavallotti)
The maestro is acclaimed for his original style, a free fusion of classical, contemporary, pop and jazz. The idea of "No Concept" best represents his music, which shies away from standard Beethoven or Mozart repertoire and creates a style full of inspiration and improvisation. His modern and free spirit has drawn a new audience from rock music lovers...The concert hall was filled.

BIOGRAPHY
Giovanni Allevi is one of the top pure composers of the current international scene.
His compositions outline the tenets of a new Contemporary Classical Music, via cultivated and moving language which distances itself from the dodecaphonic and minimalist trend, and thus declaring a new European rhythmic and melodic intensity. (read more....)
