GIOVANNI ALLEVI PLAYS THE AVE MARIA FOR POPE FRANCIS

The composer is performing also one of his compositions in St. Peter’s Square on 26th October on Family Day.

Giovanni Allevi is playing for Pope Francis.
On 26th October, Family Day, the composer is performing in St. Peter’s Square in front of several generations expected to come from every corner of the world for the event organized and run by the Papal Council for the Family.

In front of Pope Francis I Allevi is playing the Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod adapted for piano solo by the artist himself, along with one of his most beloved compositions Downtown.
“FAMILY, LIVE THE JOY OF FAITH! Pilgrimage of the Family to St. Peter’s Tomb in the Year of Faith” is one of the many events proposed for the Year of Faith called by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and in succession with the actual Pope Francis and the Holy See.

With the notes of the Ave Maria, Allevi is opening the most awaited moment of the day, the Pope’s speech.

The event will be broadcast worldwide on Rai Uno from 5 p.m.

Giovanni in Venice for "Symphony of Life"!

Giovanni arrives at Venice Lido tomorrow, 5th September, for the presentation of the first animated short movie created on his composition "Symphony of Life".

The video premieres at Terrazza Maserati in presence of the composer and of the director Marco Pavone, cartoonist, graduated from the Disney Academy and drawer for “Topolino” (“Mickey Mouse”).

With story and music by Giovanni, the video, evoking a gothic and surreal atmosphere,  features the cartoon of the composer himself crushed in an endless conflict/love relationship with his Capricious Witch, i.e. Music.

Pavone has directed animated clips for stars such as Coolio, Ekow and Snoop Dogg.  read more »

VENICE: GIOVANNI ALLEVI’S AVATAR AT VENICE FILM FESTIVAL IN AN ANIMATED SHORT FILM

Drawn from his last success album Sunrise, Giovanni Allevi’s composition Symphony of Life comes to life with an animated short film evoking a gothic and surreal atmosphere directed by Marco Pavone.

Director and cartoonist, graduated from the Disney Academy, he draws for Mickey Mouse and has directed animated clips for stars such as Daniele Silvestri, Caparezza, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Subsonica, La Crus, Edoardo Bennato, Luca Carboni, Coolio, Ekow and Snoop Dogg.

The short premieres at the 70th Venice Film Festival. With story and music by Giovanni Allevi, Symphony of Life – the Short Film features the animated doppelganger of the composer himself crushed in an endless conflict/love relationship with his Capricious Witch, i.e. Music.  read more »

Here we go again with Giovanni’s ‘Sunrise Tour’ in July!

After the great success of his tour in spring and back from Japan, where he was welcomed by an unbelievable enthusiasm by Asian audience, by popular demand Giovanni will be back this summer with his ‘SUNRISE TOUR’. He will be playing in the most stunning squares, arenas and outdoor venues around Italy. Here are the dates:

GIOVANNI IS BACK IN JAPAN WITH A NEW PIANO SOLO TOUR

Giovanni Allevi is back in Japan!

Three years ago the trip to Osaka, which inspired Allevi his first Concerto for Violin and Orchestra included in his last album Sunrise, and now the artist is back to the Land of the Rising Sun not just for the release of Sunrise but also for a new tour.

After the great success in 2008 and 2010, Allevi is long-waited in Japan as he had to cancel a previous tour in 2001 due to the tragedy of the Tsunami.

The PIANO SOLO JAPAN TOUR 2013 lands at the prestigious Blue Note in Tokyo on 15th June, after the unforgettable concert in 2008. The tour will also hit Kanazawa on 2nd June (Akabane Hall), Kagoshima on 4th June (Kenmin Coryu Center), Ibusuki on 8th  and 9th June (Satsuma Denshokan), and Yokohama on 13th June (Motion Blue)  read more »

HERE WE GO WITH THE SECOND PART OF GIOVANNI’S TOUR!

After his sold out concerts during the first part of the tour in November, Giovanni’s tour with Violin and Orchestra has been back since 28th February when Giovanni played at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome, again scoring a great SOLD OUT!
Giovanni then brought the enchantment of his music to different Italian theatres: Catania, Cosenza, Padua, Cagliari and Lugano and on stage he made the public relive the magic of his last album SUNRISE!

During the first part of the evening, in "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in F minor" Giovanni Allevi is both composer and conductor of the Italian Symphonic Orchestra, accompanied by the solo violinist Natalia Lomeiko. In the second part, "Sinfonia Concertante for Piano and Orchestra", beyond being the composer, Allevi is also pianist and conductor.

The SUNRISE Tour is going on in April with concerts in Ravenna (buy tickets here) and Milan (buy tickets here) where Reiko Watanabe is the solo violinist.

Parallel to the SUNRISE Tour, the "PIANO SOLO TOUR 2013" sees Allevi in a more intimate dimension where he traces his career through his big piano hits on Italy’s main stages.

Rome Première – Exclusive Video!

Here we have an exclusive interview to Natalia Lomeiko, solo violinist during the first part of the SUNRISE Tour!
While travelling to Rome for the Première on 28th February, Natalia tells us about her approach to Giovanni’s composition for violin and her emotions during the performance. The unpublished images then show Giovanni’s extreme concentration as Conductor of Orchestra and the emotions of the public.
